La Loulou Wine Bar, 4250 Piedmont Avenue, Oakland

We had such fun at this charming little wine bar in Oakland. It’s is an absolute love letter to Paris, with Art Nouveau mirrors, feathered pendant lights, and a wine list that will make you feel like you’re tucked into a corner bistro on the Rive Gauche. Add in their salmon toast, charcuterie boards, beurre jambon baguette sandwiches, and quiche, and honestly… c’etait parfait pour une soirée française.

I was there with the great Dave Austin on piano, we played all your favorite French and American jazz standards, channeled a little Piaf, a little joie de vivre, and a lot of Bastille Day spirit.
