Our plans were to spend a week in June on a houseboat on Lake Shasta.\u00a0 That plan fizzled out when the boat&#8217;s motor died and sent the boat to drydock for most of the summer.\u00a0 So, we pivoted&#8230; we thought,\u00a0 &#8220;Why not keep with the boat theme and check out one of our bucket list destinations, Alaska?\u00a0 Through the magic of the internet, in one morning we were able to book a Princess Cruise to Alaska&#8217;s Inside Passage leaving from San Francisco for the same dates as our original plans.\u00a0 For locals, traveling by ship to Alaska from San Francisco offers two\u00a0 bonuses:\u00a0\u00a0being able to carry on two huge suitcases per person and\u00a0the amazing experience of sailing under the Golden Gate Bridge on a giant cruise-ship.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Alaska is\u00a0 something else indeed!\u00a0 All the sights of natural beauty are super- sized.\u00a0 We saw whale, eagles, waterfalls,\u00a0spectacular glaciers and\u00a0icebergs.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Once aboard the ship, I learned about &#8220;The Voice of the Ocean,&#8221;\u00a0a singing contest\u00a0mimicking the TV show of the same name.\u00a0 Even though\u00a0 I was on vacation to relax and see new places, I couldn&#8217;t pass up the opportunity to audition for the show.\u00a0 With the help of my Lola character, I ended up being one of the six finalists.\u00a0 \u00a0I didn&#8217;t win the competition, but I enjoyed the experience and being being treated as a mini celebrity aboard the ship.\u00a0 What was surprisingly the most challenging part of the experience wasn&#8217;t the bright lights, performing for hundreds of\u00a0 people nor the pressure of competition, it was balancing on heels at the front of the ship during a very choppy stretch of ocean during my actual performance!<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1827\" src=\"https:\/\/www.debramugnani.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/\/debracollage.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"309\" height=\"309\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.debramugnani.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/debracollage.jpeg 512w, https:\/\/www.debramugnani.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/debracollage-150x150.jpeg 150w, https:\/\/www.debramugnani.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/debracollage-300x300.jpeg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 309px) 100vw, 309px\" \/><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0 &nbsp; Is your summer turning out the way you planned?\u00a0 Mine isn&#8217;t and contrary to what that sounds like, it&#8217;s turned out to be really wonderful!
